A few friends got into a discussion of the Beatles (The White Album) which led me to wonder. What if the White Album was released instead as a typical length album of the time –? A single album with less than 25 minutes per side?
Here’s how I’d mix the 1968 release of The Beatles: Revolution
Back in the U.S.S.R.
Don’t Pass Me By
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
I’m So Tired
Happiness Is a Warm Gun
Side one is more McCartney while Side Two is more Lennon. One is more contemplative and rocker while Two is combative, edgier. I’d put the first single as a double Side-A “Revolution” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” followed by “Hey Jude/Blackbird.”
